Brunei Academic Delegation Explores Strategic Academic Ties During Visit to Iran University of Science and Technology

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) welcomed an academic delegation from Brunei as part of its ongoing initiative to expand global partnerships and foster meaningful academic collaboration. The visit was coordinated and hosted by IUST’s Office of Scientific and International Cooperation.

The meeting began with a comprehensive introduction to IUST’s educational and research infrastructure, international engagement strategies, and areas of academic excellence. IUST reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with institutions in Southeast Asia and expressed readiness to establish long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations with Bruneian universities.
During the discussions, both sides explored a wide array of potential cooperative initiatives, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research programs, participation in international academic events such as summer schools and conferences, and the development of collaborative academic networks. IUST also extended a formal invitation to Bruneian institutions to take part in the International Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence, scheduled to be hosted by IUST in 2026.

The delegation concluded their visit with a tour of various facilities across the university campus, gaining first-hand insight into IUST’s academic and technological capabilities. Key areas visited included educational departments, research centers, the university’s central library, and athletic complexes.
This visit marked a significant step toward enhancing bilateral academic engagement and reflects IUST’s strategic focus on expanding its international academic footprint across Asia and beyond.
